Tattoo artist found guilty of the murder of a chef in Cobh

A tattoo artist who was found guilty of the murder of a young chef yesterday will be sentenced  in July .

Jurors at the Central Criminal Court took just over four hours to convict 31 year old Dylan Scannell of O'Rahilly Street, Cobh of the murder of father of two Ian Baitson.

The week-long trial heard 31 year old Mr. Scannell, of O’Rahilly Street in Cobh, struck Mr. Baitson from behind the left knee with a sword at the Eurospar car park on Newtown Road in Cobh on the evening of March 15th, 2024, following a dispute over a drug debt.

Ian Baitson died in hospital four days later.

Dylan Scannell will receive a mandatory life sentence at a sentencing hearing in Cork on July 11th next
