The Taoiseach says he thinks there's a particular issue in Cork because of the exceptionally long waiting lists for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
Nearly 1,000 children are waiting for CAMHS, with some waiting up to 15 months for an appointment.
Speaking to RedFM News, Taoiseach Michael Martin says it's not ok children and families are waiting that long:
"I think there's a particular issue in the Cork area, in terms of CAMHS and in terms of mental health which has been historic and resources have been provided but it's not acceptable that people would be waiting that long. Minister Mary Butler has met and has travelled the country. The Health Commission has met with CAMHS locally and is very aware of the need to bring about a significant improvement to the Cork area."
