The Taoiseach says a dispute over Local Employment Services can be resolved with dialogue.

Micheál Martin was speaking after Fórsa and SIPTU trade union members staged a protest outside his constituency office in Turners Cross this morning to call on him to intervene in the matter.

Unions say Local Employment Services should not be privatised and have accused the Department of Social Protection of not engaging with them.

Speaking to RedFM News, Taoiseach Micheál Martin says the Department has engaged:

"There's a number of issues in terms of the legal obligation to tender. And then there's the Community Services Content. And we want to engage, and the Minister has engaged. There has been a lot of discussion on this side, apparently, for the last year and a half or more. And I'm aware that there are some centres that have unique qualities, you know, in terms of their location, their outreach to community and so on, but it's not simple black and white either, and there has been a lot of engagement between the unions and the minister, Heather Humphreys."
