Micheál Martin was speaking in the city in the past hour where he described Russia's action as 'unjustified and immoral' and said the Irish government would welcome any talks that lead to the end of hostilities.

He also said Ireland will do everything it can to help anyone impacted by the Russian invasion.

The Taoiseach says keeping a consular presence in Moscow is important for Ireland in order help Irish people in Russia, following mounting calls for the Russia Ambassador to Ireland to be expelled, however he also said he would rule nothing out and would work with Europe before making a decision to expel any diplomats.

Speaking to RedFM News, Taoiseach Micheál Martin praised Ukraine's people and President:

"The extraordinary courage of the Ukrainian people and the President of Ukraine in particular, I think has rallied the world. I think people have been very taken by their courage and their commitment to their country and to their people. And I think that is continuing to rally public opinion across the globe, and is leading to the isolation of the Russian leadership. And I think, ultimately, I hope that that will not manifest itself in meaningful talks that could bring about the cessation of hostilities and the ending of this war."
