St. Vincent De Paul says some parents are going to bed hungry to make sure their children are fed.

Volunteers in Cork say calls to the charity are increasing as people are crippled by the cost of living.

Speaking to RedFM News, Miriam Adair who volunteers with SVP in Cork says parents who need the charity’s help are often drained by their current situation:

"I have found that a lot of parents will go bed hungry, but their kids will have been fed. When we do home visitations, you do notice the parents are drained, hard done by and trying to stay upbeat for their kids. But when we start talking to them, they are struggling."
