Students calling for UCC to cut ties with Israeli institutions say they will protest any Government officials who appear on campus.

It comes as two people were arrested by Gardaí during Micheál Martin’s visit to University College Cork yesterday.

A man in his 20’s was charged and has appeared before the courts whilst a woman in her 20’s was given an adult caution.

Speaking to RedFM News, Ainsley Rucker from UCC BDS, the group which has been camping out on the university's quad for 5 weeks, says UCC needs to meet the groups demands:

"One of the most important things about yesterday is that we continued our trend of peaceful protest, this was obviously met with some pushback. But one of our demands was to not allow Government officials on campus until the passage of the Occupied Territories Bill that has still not been passed. And since the university has not met that demand we decided that we will be protesting any Government officials that appear on campus."
