The State has conceded defeat in the Judicial Review taken by Save Our Bride Otters of the Blackpool Flood Relief Scheme.

The proposed scheme consists of flood defence walls and embankments, the removal and replacement of historic bridges, the construction of a large trash
screen in the middle of a small amenity park and the culverting of the 350m stretch of the River Bride in Blackpool Village.

In a statement to RedFM news the group says the state conceded on one of the grounds brought by the group that there was insufficient public consultation.

The Office of Public works has identified three other viable alternatives in the Scheme Options Report to protect Blackpool Village from flooding including upstream storage.
