The sorting and counting of the Presidential election ballots from the five Cork constituencies is underway.
Voter turnout was in line with expectations, with 41.6% in the city and 38.5% in the county by 8pm last night
The ballots for Cork South-West, Cork East and Cork North-West are being counted in Mallow, while the ballots for Cork South Central and Cork North Central will be counted at Nemo Rangers GAA complex.
No counts will be announced in Cork, instead the results will be recorded and announced at Dublin Castle.
The combined voter turnout in Cork City was 41.6% by 8pm. In the Taoiseach’s constituency of Cork South Central, it was on 44.6%, while in Cork North Central it was on 36.8%.
In the county, the combined turnout was slightly lower than the city at 38.5%.
All eyes this morning will be on the early tallies including the number of spoiled votes from Cork voters.
