A manager at a Cork city domestic abuse refuge says she has seen how social media and online are new tools used to stalk victims, with post-separation abuse also on the increase.
It comes as the National Women’s Council is highlighting key issues facing women in Ireland today.
Speaking to RedFM News, Mary Cullinane, Manager with Cuanlee Refuge says she has noticed changes in how abuse is carried out since she started 28 years ago:
"So the changes I see personally is around media, media abuse, and in relation through electronic abuse which we didn't see in earlier years. The abuse is really the same but around electronic stalking, I suppose, post separation abuse have become a big issue."
