Small towns and villages in Cork with full wastewater treatment plants cannot thrive as new developments cannot be constructed.
Uisce Éireann says work is currently underway to upgrade facilities in 7 areas of high priority across the county.
Speaking to RedFM News, Tom Howard from Carrignavar Community Council says the village is suffering as it has not been included in the upgrade plans:
" Nobody can build houses in the area, schools are suffering and general prosperity is suffering. If you can't get young people to build their homes in Carrignavar and live here, the area will lose all those people from living here. Major, major problems."
