SIPTU has written to the CEO of Stryker with safety concerns at its Cork plant.

Workers at the pharmaceutical company were evacuated after a fire broke out last week with no injuries reported.

It's over two years since a 41-year-old man died from extensive burn and blast injuries at the site.

Speaking to RedFM News, Neil McGowan from SIPTU says there has been an unusual amount of incidents at the East Cork plant:

"Unfortunately we had a tragedy on site where a contract worker died as part of an incident and there's also been a significant number of fires involving the machines going back to 2019 but there's been a pretty consistent pattern but it certainly is an unusual volume of incidents in the three factories in Carrigtwohill."
