Sinn Fein is warning tens of thousands of renters will be paying more rent they cannot afford, from March.
The Taoiseach expects legislation placing the whole country under a rent pressure zone will be passed in the next six weeks.
However, Deputy Eoin O'Broin is hitting out at the Government for doing away with protections for tenants:
"On the one hand they're extending the rent pressure zones to the 17% of renters not covered but at the same time they're hollowing out those protections and the result of that will be from March of next year ever greater numbers of renters will pay ever greater levels of rent."
