Searches for information about the murders of Deirdre Jacob and Jo Jo Dullard may continue for some time.
Excavators were brought into a quarry between Blessington and Baltinglass yesterday to search for clues about the killings of the women in the 1990's.
Gardai say they began the operation on foot of new information.
Its the first time there has been any suggested link between the murders of Jo Jo and Deirdre who disappeared 3 years apart in Co. Kildare.
Crime Editor with the Irish Sun Stephen Breen says the search has happened because of a cold-case review of both murders.
"Because of the information that they had, and it wasn't searched previously, and as a result of that review by the Cold Case Unit and the serious crime review team, it was important that it was looked at again.
"As a result of that review they have decided to conduct a search. They are focussing on a very specific area of the quarry, it's a very remote and vast area.
"But they have information, and are focussing all their intention on that specific area of the quarry."
