Richard Satchwell told Gardaí he tried to 'get rid of the memories' and had to 'rediscover himself' following the death and burial of his wife under the stairs of their home.

The 58-year-old of Grattan Street, Youghal, County Cork has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Tina Satchwell at the same address in March 2017

During an interview on the 13th of Oct 2023, Det Sgt David Noonan tells Richard Satchwell he has stated he has 'nothing to lose'.

The detective says “You have a lot to lose and the story you are telling us is not making sense.”

It’s put to Richard Satchwell he had tried to allude that he had come forward to speak to investigators when in reality he was there because Tina Satchwell’s body had been discovered.

The jury also heard toughened glass fragments found on Tina Satchwell’s body were likely all from the same source but no inference could be drawn about what had led to the presence of glass on her body.

The trial continues.
