The trial of Richard Satchwell had heard an interview in which he describes the immediate aftermath of his wife’s death as like a “film you can’t rewind” and says her burial was the ‘final goodbye’.
The 58-year-old of Grattan Street, Youghal, Cork has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his wife at the same address in March 2017.
During his second interview and following the discovery of the body of Tina Satchwell in October 2023, Richard Satchwell told Det Sgt David Noonan “you have a job to do” and then says that job is to “bury me”.
Det Sgt Noonan responds by saying his job is to get to the truth.
He also told Sgt Noonan “I’m sick of living behind a mask’.
When Sgt Noonan challenged Richard Satchwell that his account of Tina’s death didn’t make sense, Mr Satchwell replied “it seems to me you are trying to push me into saying something just to please you.”
The trial continues.
