Residents who are against their land being used for a greenways are protesting outside the Dáil.

A number of groups against their land being used for greenways around the country have come together.

They are calling for an end to the use of Compulsary Purchase Orders for non-essential infrastructure.

John Crowley who is against the Cork to Kinsale greenway running through his property says the investment should be used for much needed housing instead greenways:

"We project that this thing will cost around €200m on today's prices, if this goes 5 or 6 years down the line then that will escalate. €200m is 800 to 1000 houses so it doesn't make sense that they will spend a capital investment on this when it can be used so much better."
