Publicans are warning that customers will see price hikes in January
The Vintners Federation of Ireland says their members will not be able to carry the increased payroll costs in the New Year
The VFI says the rise in minimum wage and pension auto enrolment come on top of high energy and insurance costs
Speaking to RedFM News Michael O'Donovan President of the VFI says publicans will have no choice but to pass the increased costs on to customers
"Unfortunately, the pub won't be able to bear those costs, it will have to be passed on to the consumer, and we already know the consumer is at breaking point because of prices. But if the pubs don't pass on these increases, unfortunately, the pubs won't survive any which way so you know, from January of next year we will see prices, unfortunately, increasing again"
