The proposed Luas for Cork could extend to Cork Airport and Carrigaline.
The Echo report that thirty recommendations have been included in the draft All island Strategic Rail Review.
The review will help to form the Development of the Railway system across the entire island up to 2050.
Among the other recommendations are the increase in intercity top speeds to 200k per hour, more direct services between the south and east costs, and exploring new stations in the Cork, Limerick, Belfast and Derry regions.
