The preliminary trial of a man charged with the murder of a Cork bishop gets underway today in the United States.
61 year old Carlos Medina pleaded not guilty to the murder of Bishop David O'Connell in Los Angeles.
Bishop O'Connell, aged 69 and originally from Brooklodge, was found dead at his home at Hacienda Drive on February 18th last after being shot a number of times.
Mr Medina, who had carried out work for Bishop O'Connell a number of times and whose wife worked as Bishop O'Connell's housekeeper, could face up to 35 years in prison if convicted.
The Irish Examiner report that it's expected a trial date will be set at today's hearing.
