A post mortem will take place today on skeletal remains found in Cork yesterday.

They were discovered by a cadaver dog during searches for 47 year old Kieran Quilligan who its thought was abducted from Cork City last September.

Ralph Riegel is the Southern Correspondent with the Irish Independent says the initial searches for Mr. Quilligan had been focused on another area of the county.

"Searches for Mr. Quilligan had been undertaken in the Little Island area. But this discovery in Rostellan is roughly about 25 to 30 kilometers away from that search area, and it remains to be seen if they're linked."
