A post mortem examination has been carried out on the body of a man who died after he was stabbed at a house in Carrigaline.
The 27-year old died in the early hours of this morning at a house on Seaview Avenue in the town.
The man's body was removed from the scene this afternoon and Assistant State Pathologist Margot Bolster carried out a post mortem at Cork University Hospital.
Gardaí are not releasing the findings of the post-mortem for operational reasons.
A man in his late 70s was also seriously injured in the incident, while Gardaí in Gurranabraher are continuing to question a 42 year old man who was arrested this morning.
Speaking to RedFM News, local councillor Seamus McGrath says the community is in shock today:
"The gentleman in hospital would be very well known in the community, working in the area for many, many years as well. The overwhelming feeling this morning is just hoping that he makes a good recovery and just extending our thoughts and wishes to him".
