The Port of Cork will be applying for planning permission this month to upgrade access to and from its Tivoli Docks site
This move is in line with the Port Masterplan 2050, which outlines the Port of Cork's intention to consolidate port operations in the lower harbour in the long term.
Key highlights of the plan include a new eastern interchange at the Glanmire Road roundabout with the removal of the existing roundabout and enabling free-flow traffic and upgraded western access at Silversprings with road, bus and cycleway infrastructure.
Separately, Iarnród Éireann is preparing plans for a new commuter railway station at Tivoli and Cork City Council is designing an active travel cycleway and a walkway through the site.
