The Port of Cork is set to open Ireland’s first dedicated offshore renewable energy quay this October, a €100 million project backed by the EU.

Known as CORE1, the deepwater berth will support large-scale offshore wind farms in the Irish and Celtic Seas.

Officials say more land and funding are needed to meet Ireland’s 2050 target of 37 gigawatts of offshore energy.
