A playground in Carrigtwohill has been badly damaged by fire.
Gardai are investigating the alleged arson attack which took place around 8pm last night.
Speaking to RedFM News, local councillor Anthony Barry says the playground, which cost around a quarter of a million euro to build, will now be out of action:
"A lot of the fundraising was done locally by the local community and then Cork County Council provided the rest of the funding through the various grant streams and it's just heartbreaking that the small kids that use that in huge numbers from all over East Cork, not just Carrigtwohill, will not be able to use it now for the next few weeks."
