Plans for 170 student beds on Model Farm Road have been approved.
An Coimisiún Pleanála approved the appealed city council decision to turn Bishopstown House into student accommodation despite strong opposition from residents and a local councillor.
The former medical and health service building which is currently vacant will house 8 students while 21 other houses will be built at the site.
