Pieta says half of their clients are under the age of 18

The charity provides a range of services nationally to people who are experiencing thoughts of suicide along with a suicide bereavement service

Suicide is the leading cause of death in men under the age of 25 and Pieta says they have been an experiencing a demand for their services since the Covid pandemic

Speaking to RedFM News Darren Coyle Garde from Pieta says loneliness can be among the many issues which drive people to turn to them for help

"We're seeing more and more people reach out for support from Pieta, especially since COVID.  What we were finding is that the majority of your day to day issues, whatever that may be, it could be financial issues, it could be, loneliness, there's a variety of them. There's no one issue that make people reach out to Pieta"
