Páirc Ui Chaoimh is set for a revamp.
It’s been confirmed that an Bord Pleanála has overturned a decision by Cork City Council, and has granted conditional planning permission for changes at the venue.
The Echo report that the works include internal reorganisation and redevelopment works in the South Stand, which will provide a GAA museum and visitor centre, and a café.
However plans to expand car parking facilities on to land designated for the Marina Park public amenity have been rejected.
The decision by An Bord Pleanála to overturn the council’s decision is subject to 9 conditions and has been welcomed by the Ballintemple Area Residents Association, who said in a statement that the conditions "put pedestrian and park user safety, enjoyment and consideration to the forefront of planning".
