The Council say the bridge may be closed for short intervals from August 2nd to allow for the works, which they say are dependant on the weather.
In a statement to RedFM News, City Council say the bridge was reopened to the public in December 2020 following a long period of poor weather and they are taking this opportunity to complete the final painting works.
The bridge is the only surviving pedestrian suspension bridge of it's age and type in Ireland and underwent a €1.7 overhaul that saw the bridge removed and taken to Tipperary.
It was shortlisted for an international engineering award last year and was the subject of a video by popular Youtuber Tom Scott that was seen by over 2.7 million people.
