Over €3.3 million has been awarded to Community Centres in Cork under the Community Centres Investment Fund.

Nationally over €33 million has been announced for the upgrade and development of 278 Community Centres nationwide.

The announcement under the new Community Centre Investment Fund represents the largest ever capital investment in upgrading Community Centres, and will see grants of between €25,000 to €300,000 provided to successful projects.

Among the 32 community centres and GAA halls in Cork that successfully received funding is My Place Community Centre in Midleton, which has been allocated €300,000 along with Douglas Community Association. Meanwhile €1120,000 has been made available to Dunmanway Community Sports Hall.

Some of the works being supported include extensions to existing centres, energy efficiency upgrades and improved access for people with disabilities.
