Over 600 homes could be built on the site of the former CMP Dairy site on the corner of Tramore Road and Kinsale Road.

The Echo report that revised plans have been submitted to an Bord Pleanala by Watfore Limited, the property management and development subsidiary of Dairygold, who own the site.

The plans would see 561 apartments built, along with 48 townhouses, with 257 of the dwellings being build to rent apartments.

The plans also include a crèche, an outdoor play area, a cafe, a gym and a community hub facility.

A decision is expected to be made by an Bord Pleanala by June.

The CMP site has been closed since 2006 with its buildings cleared not long after that, and has remained mostly idle since.
