Over 1300 people in Cork have registered with the Irish Red Cross to offer their homes to Ukrainian refugees

75% is for shared accommodation where people have a room to spare and the charity says nationally cash donations have reached an unbelievable €14m

The Red Cross says across the country they had almost 12,000 pledges of accommodation since just last Friday

Talks between the Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers in Turkey have ended with no progress made.

A German government official says the Chancellor and the French president have urged Vladimir Putin to implement a ceasefire immediately during talks over the phone.

Speaking through a translator, Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov says Moscow is watching the behaviour of the west carefully:

"Yes, we see how dangerously our Western colleagues are acting, supplying deadly weapons, including thousands  of rocket launchers"
