Operators of a nursing home in the city have been offered additional funding for residents on the Fair Deal scheme.
The minister with responsibility for older people, says Beaumont Residential Care is currently in negotiations with the National Treatment Purchase Fund.
The facility is due to cease providing care under the Fair Deal scheme, due to a shortfall in funding amid rising costs, and families of residents of the nursing home staged a number of protests outside the Dail.
Minister of State Mary Butler, hopes there'll be a satisfactory outcome from these talks:
The only way to get funding for nursing homes is through the NPPF through the fair deal. So 425 nursing homes, private providers will negotiate with fair deal, 120 have already done so this year and they have seen a significant uplift of between 6 and 7%. The nursing home in question are currently in negotiations with the NTPF, I know they've met yesterday. I know they have received a final offer, so I'm waiting to see what will happen as an outcome, I don't want to speak specifically about when nursing home."
