The chairman of the Cork City Joint Policing Committee says no street in Cork city should be regarded as a "no go" zone

Fine Gael Councillor Damian Boylan was speaking after Presentation Brothers College advised their students to avoid quiet city side streets following reports of intimidation by gangs of youths

Gardaí says they are aware of a number of minor incidents but no serious incident has been reported to them

Speaking to RedFM News Cllr Boylan says he will raise the matter with senior gardai but says everyone should feel safe walking around Cork city

" Every incident needs to be reported, so that the gardai can step up their efforts to stop this. Number two, everybody should be vigilant, not just the young people but let everybody be vigilant as to what's happening around us. If you see an incident. If you're suspicious of something, your immediate reaction should be to dial nine nine and report it"
