A fire broke out on a Port of Cork Pilot boat on Tuesday morning

In a statement issued to RedFM News the Port of Cork says the fire was quickly brought under control and no-one on board was injured in the incident

The vessel was towed to Crosshaven where welfare checks were carried out on the crew and pilot with precautionary tests at medical facilities afterwards.

The crew have since returned to work while the pilot boat is currently being assessed and expected to be back in service in the future

In the meantime there is a replacement vessel operating in the harbour
