News that the former Debenhams store on Patrick Street in Cork is being revitalised is being welcomed.

Planning has been sought for the property, which has been vacant for over 5 years, to be turned into 3 retail units.

These people in the city says the current condition of the building is an eyesore:

"I used to work in Roches years ago, and then Debenhams, and just to have it back up and being used again would be amazing."

"Definitely want to see something done about it because it's shocking the way it is, people gather there at night time."

"This has really brought down the area, it's an eyesore and this time of year you have people visiting the city and at this time of the year people are visiting the city, but unfortunately it's an eyesore."
