Roads in parts of Cork city and county are treacherous this morning after freezing overnight temperatures.
Temperatures fell to as low as -5 in some parts of the county, with Cork County Council treating priority 1 and priority 2 roads over night, with priority three roads to be treated this morning.
Motorists are being urged to avoid unnecessary journeys, and if they do have to travel are being urged to take extreme care this morning, with a high probability of icy stretches on the roads, with black ice possible even on treated roadways
Cork remains under a status yellow low temperature and ice warning until 11am this morning, with a number of schools across the county opening later as a result.
