A group who support new mothers and babies are seeing an increase in demand for essential items in Cork.
Community Connect are running a nationwide donation day on Saturday the 26th of March and have organised drop offs in Midleton, Mallow, Bantry and The Lough between 1 and 3 pm.
Local volunteers will be collecting essential items for expectant and new mothers such as buggies, baby clothes, nappies, blankets, and maternity items and the support group are asking people who are willing to donate to check communityconnect.ie for more information.
Speaking to RedFM News, Elaine Noonan from Community Connect says they help a variety of families:
"We support a huge number of families who would be in homelessness families, who are, you know in domestic violence situations who are in shelters. We also deal extensively with Direct Provision centres around the country and of course since the refugees from Ukraine have started arriving into the country. We've started to have some demand from refugee families, as we would expect that demand to get even bigger. As more and more families arrive into Ireland."
