Money and Budgeting Advice Service says renting crisis source of stress for many people in Cork

The renting crisis is a source of stress for many people in Cork.

That's according to the Money and Budgeting Advice Service as Daft.ie released there latest survey which revealed that renters in Cork City are paying an average of €1768 per month, a 15 percent increase on last year.

MABS is a free service for those who are worried about the ongoing rent crisis to help create a budget and create a payment plan for those already in arrears.

The service are encouraging those who need their help to visit their North Main Street Office or make contact with them by phone or online.

Speaking to RedFM News, Regional Manager of South Munster's MABS, Ursula Collins says they can offer plenty of advice:

"We will look at if you're working family, you know, are there any credits or benefits that you could avail of that you haven't got presently? We could look at your revenue position. Advise if you could claim or un-claim that say health expenses or something like that for previous years, looking at maximising your income and give you some guidance about budgeting for the future."
