A plumber who signed a note in the wall of a city centre hotel in 1969 says he was shocked to see it circulating in the media yesterday
Management at the Metropole Hotel issued an appeal for the four labourers - Tommy Ross, Jerry Higgins, Steve Casey and John Keogh to get in touch
They wrote their names on a piece of wallpaper which was discovered in the bricks of the lobby
John Keogh who is now 86 years old told the Neil Prendeville Show they signed the note never expecting it to see the light of day
"Jerry would take down the panels, being the carpenter and I would be tracing the pipes and Tommy being the electrician he would be tracing wires and then when everything was finished, Steve would decorate the whole thing. Then, you know, Tommy would just turn around to us and he'd have a scrap of paper and we'd have to sign it ourselves I recognised my signature straight away when I saw it"
