Members of the Bessborough Mother and Baby Home Support group are travelling to the Dáil for a protest this evening.

The group says they are completely against plans to build apartments at the Blackrock site which operated as a mother and baby home from 1922 to 1998.

Speaking to RedFM News, Carmel Cantwell from the support group says the site must be preserved:

"Bessborough was the last place my mother saw her baby alive, the last place she held him, we've been going there for 30 years even though we recenly found out he's actually buried at Carr's Hill and she put a plaque in Bessborough because that's the last place she saw him."
