An Organisation representing the Music & Entertainment industry has slammed new ticketing plans for Nightclubs as a 'total betrayal'.

In a tweet late last night the M.E.A.I. said the guidelines published yesterday evening, are not those that had been sent to the industry earlier.

Late night venues will have to be ticketed, with tickets sold in advance.

The new guidelines will not be impact the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival as they will not come into force until next weekend.

According to Sunil Sharpe from the Give Us The Night Campaign, some nightclubs and late-night venues won't be viable if they're forced to be fully ticketed:

"The walk-up is huge for so many venues. So imagine, you're even a tourist that's coming over and wants to go from one late venue to another, and you turn up and you're being told, "Oh, you need to get a ticket". How can this possibly be viable if you're telling people that this has to be in place for another God knows how long into next year, you know."
