A man who pleaded guilty to 11 counts of sexually assaulting his two nieces when they were children will be sentenced next month.
The 34-year-old, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the two victims, appeared at a sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Cork today.
The court heard 10 of the counts related to the sexual assault of a girl aged between eight and 11 at the time, while the other charge related to one count of sexual assault of a girl who was four years of age at the time.
One of the girls, who is now 20, read her victim impact statement in person and said she is living in fear all the time, is scared to be around people and gets flashbacks.
The statement of the other girl, who is now 17, was read into the record by Detective Sergeant Tom Delaney.
The girl said her "mind and heart hurts" because of what happened to her when she was four.
The man will be sentenced on the 3rd of November.
