Man Sent Forward For Trial Accused Of Murdering 72 Year Old Mary O'Keeffe From Dromahane

A man has been sent forward for trial, accused of murdering 72 year old Mary O'Keeffe from Dromahane.

63 year old Michael Leonard with an address in Kilmallock in Limerick, appeared at Cork District Court this morning, from prison, via video link.

Cliona O'Dwyer has more for RedFM News:

"72 year old, Mary O'Keeffe's body was found on the afternoon of the 4th of February last when a passer-by spotted a burning car near the Coillte forest in Doneraile.

The Mallow Fire Service was called and when the firefighters extinguished the fire, they found Ms O'Keeffe's body.

Ms O'Keeffe was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the inquest into her death earlier this year, the court heard that her body had to be identified using DNA evidence.

The widowed, mother of three was originally from Lombardstown, but lived in Dromahane and worked as a cook.

Michael Leonard appeared at Cork District Court this morning via video link from prison.

Mr Leonard was remanded in continuing custody.

The trial is expected to be heard in the Central Criminal Court next year.
