A man who was found guilty of the rape and sexual assault of his adopted sister when they were both children will be sentenced next Wednesday.
47-year-old Emmett Baylor of Hilltop, Youghal appeared at a sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Cork today where the victim in the case waived her right to anonymity.
The court previously heard Emmett Baylor carried out the offences between 1990 and 1993 when he was between the ages of 12 and 16.
The court heard the victim was just over 6 years younger than him.
Today in court 41-year-old Niamh Herbert said in her victim impact statement she still grieves for the childhood Baylor took from her.
She said she had spent many nights parked outside a Garda Station, willing herself to find the courage and strength to walk inside and had eventually done so out of the 'crushing fear' Baylor might be hurting other children.
Judge Siobhan Lankford set a sentencing date for the 30th of July.
