A man's fighting for his life following after a serious assault in the city.
Two people are being questioned and Gardaí at Mayfield Station are appealing for witnesses.

"The man in his mid-40s was found with an apparent head injury after reports of a disturbance at Lower Glanmire Road in Cork City.
The attack happened shortly before 9 o'clock on Thursday night and Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene.
He was brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where his condition is understood to be critical.
A comprehensive forensic examination of the scene has been completed.
A man and woman, both in their late 20s, have since been arrested and are being held at the Bridewell and Gurranabraher Garda Stations.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward."
