A 56 year old man has been remanded on bail after he was charged in connection with a €35,000 drugs seizure on Friday.

Paul Marken was arrested by members of the Cork City Divisional Drugs Squad when he was brought to their attention by Sniffer Dog Rex, as he got off the Dublin-Cork train at Kent Railway station.

Mr Marken appeared before a special sitting of Skibbereen District Court, and was charged with two counts relating to the seizure of heroin, with a street value of €35,000.

Gardaí had no objection to bail provided Mr Marken, who is a wheel chair user, abides by a number of conditions
including staying out of Cork city and county except for court appearances.

He is due to appear again at Cork District Court on the 17th of November.
