21 year old Jonathan Woodside of Kilally West, Kilworth, Co Cork appeared at Mallow District Court earlier today via video link.

Woodside was charged with 12 offences arising out of an incident in Fermoy on the 24th of September.

The charges include damage to property, injuring a person, failing to remain at a scene and possessing a knife.

Last week Judge John Keane heard that the student took his father’s car from their house in Kilworth and drove to Fermoy before injuring a man and damaging a car and a horsebox on McCurtain Street in the town.

Det Garda Dave O’Shea told the court last week that Woodside nearly collided with pedestrians and other vehicles on the street and had rammed Det O’Shea’s patrol car by reversing into it.

Judge Keane was told that Woodside had made a full admission when later questioned at Fermoy Garda Station and had been worried about the people injured in the incident.

The judge adjourned the bail application and remanded Woodside in custody until he was assessed by a psychiatrist.

Today in court defence solicitor Ciarán O’Keeffe said that no psychiatrists report had been completed since last week.

Judge Alec Gabbett remanded Woodside in continuing custody until next Tuesday the 11th of October.
