Locals in Carrigaline are coming to terms with the death of a young man who was fatally stabbed in the early hours of this morning.
The body of the 27 year old remains at the scene in a house at Seaview Avenue this afternoon, while a man in his late 70s is in a serious condition at CUH after being stabbed multiple times.
A 42 year old man was arrested this morning in relation to the incident and is being held at Gurranabraher Garda station.
Speaking to RedFM News, local councillor Seamus McGrath says the incident has stunned the community:
"The entire community woke up this morning to really tragic news. This is a truly awful incident. Our thoughts are with the family, the victim's family, the individual in hospital. The overwhelming feelings are ones of shock and sadness in the community this morning. It's a very quiet and settled area. It's not the news people expect, but certainly there's great sadness there for the family and a lot of good wishes and thoughts for the gentleman in hospital - that he makes a good recovery."
