The jury in the trial of Richard Satchwell has been told they must come to a true verdict in accordance with the evidence.
58-year-old Richard Satchwell of Grattan Street in Youghal has pleaded NOT guilty to the murder of Tina Satchwell at the same address in March 2017.
Mr Justice Paul McDermott begun his charge to the jury of seven women and five men this afternoon.
He told them they must approach their deliberations with an open and independent mind, without emotion and without prejudice.
He instructed them to leave their feelings outside the door of the jury room, and approach the case in a careful, clinical way.
Judge McDermott said there is no burden on Richard Satchwell to give evidence and said, it is of no relevance to the jury that he did not give evidence as he's exercising his right.
The judge’s charge to the jury continues this afternoon.
