Monday, 19 December 2022 – Irish Water and Cork County Council are working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses in Inchigeela following a mechanical issue at a local pumping station. As a result, water supply to Inchigeela has been impacted.

Crews are on the ground working to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers.

In the meantime, an alternative water supply will be made available from 9am tomorrow, 20 December, at Marian Terrace, Inchigeelagh P12 FR63

The supplies will remain in place until supply is restored to all customers. It is anticipated that repairs will be completed by approximately 5pm tomorrow. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Niall O’Riordan, Operations Lead for Irish Water said, "We understand the inconvenience this issue is causing and are working to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible. It is expected that the works will be completed by approximately 5pm on Tuesday, 20 December, after which it will take a number of hours for the network to refill and normal supply to return to all customers.

“We are also asking the public to do what they can to conserve water during this time by turning off taps and checking for leaks in outside taps or unoccupied premises. "If anyone notices a leak in the public network they should report it to Irish Water via www.water.ie or by calling 1800 278 278.”.

Localised updates about water supply issues are available on www.water.ie or via Twitter @IWCare. The Irish Water Customer Care Team is also available to help 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
